Innovation is part of our DNA at Smokeball. We are always hard at work developing the most cutting-edge software features for small law firms.
To enhance the user experience, the following new features will soon be available for all Smokeball clients:
- Task Improvements: Faster list performance and filters - manipulate task lists to display exactly what you need.
- Matter Based Permissions: Guarantee that matter information and documentation will remain confidential only to those that have been granted access.
Smokeball's Chief Revenue Officer, Jane Oxley and Global Head of Product, Adele Hoyle recently got together to showcase the exciting new features that are coming down the pipe.
We have given the tasks a face lift to allow for both faster list performance and to allow you to manipulate the list to show exactly what you need. This will also help you to identify tasks that are likely no longer necessary (“Task debt”) and delete or complete as desired.
1. Default filters
Default filters have been introduced in place of the original tabs.
2. Tasks counter
We have included a tasks counter.
3. Custom filters
Custom filers have been introduced for two reasons.
- To replace the original groupings that we had within the list (today, tomorrow, this week etc)
- To allow more flexibility over what the you want to see
4. New columns
We introduced some new columns (below) which not only provide additional information however, they will be extremely helpful when you are trying to get out of “tasks debt”.
With this information you can start to delete tasks assigned to closed matter or that were created years ago and are still incomplete (therefore no longer relevant).
- Matter status
- Completed on
- Created on
Matter Based Permissions
There are a number of scenarios where you would need to implement a high level of security over information that is stored in a matter.
To ensure privacy we have introduced Matter based permissions to help users manage these scenarios and provide a guarantee that the information and documentation stored on a matter will remain confidential only to those users that have been granted access.
The main functionality that has been introduced is to restrict specified users from:
- Opening a matter
- Assigning new items to a matter
- Opening items related to a matter
- Editing items related to a matter
Settings permissions on a matter:
We have introduced a new “Permissions” tab in Matter settings that allows users to configure their permission preferences.
